The research (see Genre Research post) thus gave the project foundations to enhance further upon within the mind-mapping and moodboard stages which will therefore provide a more defined idea and design style.
The aid of research into the genre – provided the idea that intergalactic travel would have had to have a relatively primitive beginning. To elaborate further, in order to break into and utilise the stronger, alien technology; space engineers would first have to form a simple, yet effective compound.
Therefore the design chosen illustrates what could be defined as an ‘old town’ style, a combination of the current technology available to astronauts along with aspects they would encounter around the surrounding environments – such as sand and rock. This illustrated with the below concept sketch.
