Sir Quentin Blake

From a young age, my nose could be found buried in a book. Most commonly the books of Roald Dahl. A writer who’s books captivated a generation through their unsentimental dark comic mood and villainous adult enemies of the child protagonist.  However the writing was not the only brilliance to his work, coupled with the illustrations of Sir Quentin Blake, they made for a captivating and mind bending experience.

Blake’s illustration thrived on a incredibly simple, brightly coloured design with sensational inability to colour within the line with a sense of child like naivety.  However despite its child like design, these were incredibly effective in the portrayal of Dahls intriguing  and strange  characters, captivating the child audiences eyes and intriguing them to read further. Even inspiring some to take up their own creative hobby.

Although most famous for his work with Dahl, Blake is also known for his work along side creators such as Russell Hoban, Joan Aiken, Micheal Rosen and John Yeoma along with illustrating classics like A Christmas Carol and Candide.
