Pre-Production

The term ‘tentacle’ offers a wide array of creative directions which could potentially be utilized, for example: hyper realism octopus/squid style, alien/monster style or a mechanical style. This, coupled with the scenario which the tentacle is to be placed means there is a similar wide variety, therefore to combat this a mindmap was used to gather ideas, taking inspiration from other forms of media such as film/

The final idea is a concept which derives from the basic idea of an alien specimen being viewed in a labaratory, with a piece of tentacle being in the centre of the shot and the use of blurred background/scientist to provide the focal element effect.
