Visual Effects Breakdown

In regards to visual effects, the majority of the film will hold some form of effect in order to accurately enhance the portrayal of the films backstory. To elaborate, in order to capture the full degree in which the solemn state the world descended into, we intend on using a similar technique to that of Al Cuaron’s: Children of Men. Cuaron weaves together shots of the admonished dystopian reality through the constant use of bleak colours, lighting and visually evocative scenarios. Not only does this generate scene continuity but can also be used as a mise en scene style approach in terms of using the colours to illustrate the oppressive and hopeless situation.

Along with these effects, the main broadcast scenes will be presented in front of  green scree, enabling the addition of a computer generated background with an additional screen situated to the right of the presenter which will show the additional riot footage (similar to the concept art below)

The additional footage will be a compiled of both original, real riot footage and live footage we have filmed and edited. This scene will hold a shot in which a CCTV camera captures a rioter is fleeing a scene, evidently this will not be shot on a actual CCTV camera therefore effects will be needed to create a grainy, low quality affect and the stereotypical ‘record’ overlay. This scene will then be interrupted by an edited static scene affect created in after effects.

The main and most crucial in which the horsemen hold the power with an intense, authoritarian speech will consist of computer generated background of a dilapidated basement  (which will most likely be a still image offline) along with a similar grainy effect which is used on the CCTV style riot.
